Lucky 13 Saloon is the evil spawn of Melody Henry and Jeff Blanchard. Though they come from very different backgrounds, their complementary knowledge and skills made opening an alternative bar their perfect collaborative venture.

Their vision was to create an intimate space for all types of people who feel out of the mainstream; people who are outright on the fringe of society as well as those who may seem or look completely "normal," but feel like they don't quite fit in with the J Crew crowd.

Lucky 13 Saloon aims to offer a haven for all types of misfits, much as The Pyramid did back in the day, combined with an attitude from places long-gone like the Mission and Alcatraz, where bikers rubbed elbows with drag queens, metalheads, intellectuals and punks alike – everyone just out to drink their asses off and have a great f’in time.

As an added bonus, the drinks are affordable, unlike places like CBGB’s and other "alternative" venues. You can get $1 beers every day until 9 pm and even a selection of $2 beers whenever the bar is open – even during peak hours – meaning we’re making the slammin’ times, awesome company, and in-your-face music affordable to all those who want them.

About the Proprietors:

Melody Henry, born and raised right here in Brooklyn, is a former Flashdancers stripper, Bellevue Bar bartender, Penthouse writer and Limelight cage dancer. She still writes and still bartends. The easiest place to find a sample of her writing is in the Best Lesbian Erotica 2002 anthology, and you will find her tending bar at Lucky 13 Saloon on Friday and Saturday nights. Melody also teaches kickboxing and vinyasa yoga, is obsessed with saving animals and has a penchants for intricate tattoos, top-shelf tequilas, Guinness, and shiny things.

Jeff Blanchard, hailing from the south shore of Massachusetts, has lived in NYC for 10 years. When he and Melody met he was working at the dreadful Webster Hall. Instead of working for the Man, he has decided to work for himself. He plays bass, likes experimental doom metal, enjoys a cold Heineken, and dressing up like Spongebob Squarepants or even the Tooth Fairy on occasion. You will find him tending bar at Lucky 13 Saloon on Tuesday and Thursday nights.
